Democracy is a paradox, according to filmmaker Astra Taylor

“…I see democracy as something that is inherently difficult”, says filmmaker Astra Taylor. She sees it as a system full of tensions: balancing coercion and choice, freedom and equality, the role of experts and giving everyone a say, etc.  Taylor is the director of the 2018 film, What is Democracy?.
