New exhibition explores "the roots of, threats to, and promise of democracy"
“Speaking of Democracy” is an exhibition featuring 28 different quotations from renowned politicians, activists, writers and world leaders, including George Orwell and Malala Yousafzai.
The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario (Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell), in cooperation with The Samara Centre for Democracy, launched the initiative in order to encourage visitors to get engaged as citizens and better understand the complexity of democracy.
“Democracy is gift that requires sustained commitment. We must not be complacent observers of the changes around us. May the words on the walls inspire all who see them to think, reflect, questions and act”, said the Lieutenant Governor.
The exhibition is located in the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite at Queen’s Park in Toronto and available for public viewing from May 1 until the end of the summer. Free public tours can be booked through here.
